Read, write and modify files in OLE2 Compound Document format. GemBox.CompoundFile is a .NET component that provides elegant and high performance way to read and write individual streams and storages in OLE 2 Compound Document files. Compound Document file is file system inside a file and is used as underlying storage for native Microsoft Office files (DOC, XLS and PPT). Use this component to manipulate such files in a low level way (for example to remove a summary data stream).

Most common uses of GemBox.CompoundFile:
- Low level access to DOC, XLS and PPT files
- Removing and replacing specific data streams (summary streams, macro streams)
- CompoundFile does not provide high level access to Word, Excel or PowerPoint data (text, tables, slides etc.)

- GemBox.CompoundFile Free - free version - the same set of features as GemBox.CompoundFile Professional except it is limited to files up to 150 KB

You can equally use GemBox.CompoundFile from your desktop or web applications. GemBox.CompoundFile is very fast (no COM interop) and with the small memory footprint.
You will receive C# and Visual Basic .NET samples for Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Visual Studio 2005, and the component compiled against .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 2.0.
GemBox only charges for developer licenses and use flexible licensing, meaning developer can also install GemBox.CompoundFile on his notebook or home computer.
You are covered by bug fixes and technical support as long as your product version belongs to one of last three (3) major releases or up to maximum period of one (1) year.
