A seamlessly integrated Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solution. SourceGear Fortress is a cross-platform Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solution for small and medium-sized teams. The version control features are based on the mature technology from SourceGear Vault which has been continually improved since its initial release in February 2003. Fortress features include: integrated ALM solution, Version control, Work item tracking, Project management, Build tracking and more. Fortress also offers full-featured integration with popular IDEs like Visual Studio or Eclipse (on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris).

SourceGear Fortress is an Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solution for small and medium-sized teams, combining the source control features of Vault and the work item tracking features of Dragnet into a single product with tight integration. The version control features are based on the mature technology from SourceGear Vault which has been continually improved since its initial release in February 2003.
On the server side, Sourcegear Fortress builds on the stable technologies from existing SourceGear products including the version control features from SourceGear Vault as well as the features of SourceGear Dragnet for work item tracking and project management. The Fortress server has one installer, one login system and one place to manage license keys.
On the client side, Sourcegear Fortress inlcudes new applications for the most popular IDEs, presenting the user with a seamlessly integrated experience, including:
- Client for Visual Studio is a full-featured way to access the Fortress server. It provides version control and work itemtracking functionality inside the Visual Studio environment.
- For Java developers and crossplatform teams, Fortress includes an Eclipse plugin, offering the same features and functionality as the Visual Studio client. The Eclipse client is supported on Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS X.
- For developing scripts and custom solutions, Fortress includes an easy-to-use client API, accessible from either Java or .NET.

Based on SourceGear Vault, Fortress's version control gives you everything you need -- reliability, atomic commits, excellent remote performance, flexible security, smart branching and merging, and more. If you're upgrading from Visual SourceSafe, SourceGear Fortress' VSS Import Tool will bring your history, data, labels, pins and shares over intact.
SourceGear Fortress Work item tracking
SourceGear Fortress offers Work Item / Bug tracking in your IDE or via your web browser. Work Item tracking and Version Control are integrated, so you'll always know what Work Item a checkin relates to, and vice-versa. Customize the security to suit your team, create and save custom queries, and more.
SourceGear Fortress Build Integration
SourceGear Fortress integrates with CruiseControl.NET to provide continuous integration and build support. We also provide NAnt tasks to access and update Fortress repositories from your build scripts, and a cross-platform command line client that can be called from any build tool.

All of SourceGear Fortress features are available in Visual Studio and Eclipse (on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Solaris). Fortress's Version Control interface can be also used from Visual Studio 2003 and earlier, and from many other editors and IDEs.
SourceGear Fortress is painless to install and manage
Fortress is a single-disc, or single-download install with modest prerequisites. And you won't need a dedicated admin or weeks of training to install it or manage it.
SourceGear Fortress Power Toys
These are a collection of small stand-alone applications which provide specific functionality that a limited number of users will find helpful.
SourceGear Fortress Power Toys currently include:
- Deploy Wizard: This wizard allows you to deploy the latest version of files or folders from the source control repository to a location on disk, or to an FTP site. You can download this power toy here, or a command line only version of this power toy here.
- The Advanced Obliterate Client:Many users over the years have requested that the method of searching for files and folders to obliterate be changed. In this wizard, we've tried to find a middle ground which worked for performance reasons and also gave the flexibility users requested.
- VSS Share Wizard: Microsoft Visual Source Safe and SourceGear Fortress have two different implementations of the concept of folder share. This wizard lets you create VSS style folder shares in Fortress.
- Pin All Wizard: This wizard allows you to pin all files underneath a folder.
- UnPin All Wizard: This wizard allows you to unpin all files underneath a folder.
- Identity Switcher: This wizard allows you to change the impersonation used by the Web Services after the install has been completed.
Fortress (Full License) allows access to all features of SourceGear Fortress. Fortress (Web-Only License) allows access to the SourceGear Fortress server only through a web browser. This type of license is intended for team members who do not need IDE integration and version control features.
